A former Premiership rugby star has opened a new gym in Stroud.
Ex-Worcester Warriors, London Irish and Parma prop Tom Warren has just opened the doors to Fortress Gym alongside his wife and co-founder Rebecca.

The gym based at New Mills, Libby’s Drive is part of a complex which also homes independent businesses Spacehoppers co-working and industrial lighting specialist Trainspotters. The unit at Fortress Gym is owned by Ray Teakle and Liam Funnell of Lansdown Motors.

Tom, who was forced to hang up his rugby boots at 27, due to a neck injury, is now a powerlifter – competing nationally and at European level, he said: “Our gym has fast become the go-to facility for both experienced athletes and enthusiastic beginners in powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and bodybuilding.
“Whether you’re on a personal road to recovery or just starting out on your fitness journey, Fortress Gym is for everyone seeking a safe, friendly and motivating space to work out.”

A sense of community is part of Fortress Gym’s ethos, Tom added: “At Fortress Gym, we believe that a strong community is the foundation of success and growth.

“We have fostered a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages camaraderie among members. You’ll find yourself surrounded by like-minded individuals who share your passion for strength and fitness – the opportunities for connection and support are endless at Fortress Gym.”
