Forest Green boss Rob Edwards has sent his heartfelt thoughts to his former Wales’ boss John Toshack who is in intensive care in a Spanish hospital as he battles severe pneumonia brought on by Covid.

Ahead of his side’s St David’s Day trip to promotion-chasing Newport County, Edwards offered his warmest wishes to the Toshack family.

Edwards said: “He was a former manager of mine and I send my best wishes to John. I know his son Cameron pretty well and my best wishes go out to them and his family. John is a legend of the game and a really nice man – I wish him well.”

Rovers, who sit 10 points clear at the top, despite back-to-back defeats are hoping to get back to winning ways at Rodney Parade after defeating County 2-0 just three weeks ago.
