A hail storm of Biblical proportions has caused parts of Stroud to be engulfed by floods this evening.
After a week of hot and dry conditions, heavy rain and hail has caused flash flooding in Slad Road, Merrywalks, Beeches Green and Lower Street.
Slad Road is once again besieged by water for a second time since the floods of December 23, 2020.
Stroud Times’ reader Merfyn Williams sent these pictures in after the heavens opened.
Mervyn said: “The police have closed the road is closed and a huge split appeared along the road outside my house – the drain covers have sunk as well and a house has been hit by lightning.”
Amanda Hunt sent in a video of the monsoon conditions in Lower Street after she kindly offered shelter to a woman as the rain rushed down the road.
More to follow.
