Frocester U19s off to a flying start

Frocester got off to a winning start in the Gloucestershire Vitality U19 T20 in partnership with Stuart Turner thanks to a comfortable 84-run home victory over Thornbury, writes Steve Hill.

Taylor Ireland and Nathan Rose Innes both retired on 50 while there was also 25 from Ewan Gegg in Frocester’s imposing total of 179-4.

In reply, Thornbury were restricted to 95-4, Saiyajat Kenche top scoring on 51 (retired) with Zain Syed unbeaten on 25.

Angus Catto captured 2-2 from his two overs and Alex Russell claimed 1-6 from his two.

Next up for Frocester is a home date on Friday with champions Dumbleton Dynamite who last year held off Bedminster Bashers by nine runs to win a thrilling final at Rockhampton.
