Measured Forest Green head coach Rob Edwards is keeping his feet firmly on the floor.
A breathtaking start to his managerial career, Edwards is ticking all the right boxes after an opening day victory over Sutton, a penalty shootout victory over Bristol City, and an emphatic 3-1 win at Walsall on Saturday – catapulting Rovers to the top of the league two tree.
However, Edwards handed all the accolades to his burgeoning squad.
He beamed: “We’ve made a brilliant start and we’ve got to keep it going – keep our feet on the ground, stay humble and keep working hard.
“We have had a nice start because the lads are working so hard.”
Edwards pointed to the togetherness in the squad as the secret to their blistering start to the new season.
He said: “The great thing is that there’s already a bond, a togetherness between them, there’s a real spirit there. Keeping the main bulk of the group together was the most important thing.”

As their partnership blossoms, captain Jamille Matt and livewire Matty Stevens have mustered two and three goals, respectively – much to the delight of their new boss.
Edwards said: “Matt Stevens has worked incredibly hard. He was disappointed to come off which is right because he’ll want that hat-trick but it’s about the team.
“He’s had a fantastic start, likewise with Jammer (Jamille Matt). I’m really pleased with both the strikers and their goals.
“It’s great that we’ve got people who are confident in front of goal and we do look a threat.”
