Girls-only rugby teams are underway at Minchinhampton RFC.
Teams will be available for Mini Lambs, U9/10/11s, Lambs, U12/13s,
Junior Ewes, U14/15s and Ewes, U16/17/18s
Coach Thomas Nurse said: “With our successful Minis and Juniors sections we already have many girls in our younger ages, but we’ve noticed that as they get older they disappear from the club and from rugby altogether.
“After much research, we’ve discovered that the girls are leaving for a variety of reasons, but two of which, that we can do something about, is that they get intimidated by tackling boys when they reach U9s and the boys are not passing to them.”
Weekly sessions, every Sunday between 1-2.30pm at Hollybush in Crackstone, GL6 9BA
