Golden moment for Stroud band

A Stroud band is breaking new ground this month with the release of their first single, writes Kerri Tyler.

The four-piece, Tortellini, have been together since 2021, and they recorded their original song Golden Hour in December. They’re releasing it across a range of music streaming platforms on Friday 13 January.

The band – Mabel, Aurelia, Obi and Meggie – had a busy year with gigs at Randwick Wap, Stroud Pride, a fundraiser for Stroud Food Bank with We Shall Overcome, and the Buzz Factory in Gloucester; this year, they’re hoping to broaden their experience by playing at some festivals.

An atmospheric and wistful number about lost love, Golden Hour was penned by vocalist Mabel and bassist Aurelia, who said: “Golden Hour always goes down really well with our audiences and we’ve also had a lot of positive feedback on our Tik-Tok and Instagram accounts. We get a real kick out of playing it and it’s a brilliant showcase for Mabel’s singing.”

The band wanted to stay local to record their first track, choosing Get It Together Studio in Beeches Green.
