With five months to go before the 2023 programme gets underway, Stroud Book Festival is today delighted to launch our signature illustration for this year’s Festival, created by Stroud illustrator, Hannah Dyson.
Each year, Stroud Book Festival commissions an illustrator living and working in the Five Valleys to create a unique ‘look’ for each Festival. Designs for previous Festivals have been developed by a roster of local talent including Dennis Gould, Tom Percival, Clay Sinclair, Ery Burns, Lucia Leyfield and Mark Levy.
This year it’s the turn of Hannah Dyson, whose beautiful design for Stroud Book Festival 2023 features a child, intently reading outdoors in a distinctly Five Valleys landscape.
Trained at Brighton University and the Royal College of Art, Hannah’s work has a strong graphic element, with drawing at the heart of everything she does. Currently artist-in-residence at Prema Arts Centre in Uley, she works on a wide variety of projects ranging from landscapes and illustrations to portraits and design.
Commenting on her illustration for Stroud Book Festival 2023, Hannah says:
“As a lifelong reader I was very chuffed to be commissioned to create the illustration for this year’s Stroud Book Festival. After all, writing and illustration have been entwined forever!”.
Stroud Book Festival 2023 will take place from 8-12 November. Its first headline events will be announced in July.
