Stroud’s historic scout hut has reopened following a £92k makeover.
The Grade II listed coach house in Hollow Lane has been fully refurbished over the last nine months, after successful bids for grant funding, including £87k from the Severn Trent Community Fund and £5k from the Bernard Sunley Charitable Trust.
The funding helped provide a new roof, double glazed windows, along with new flooring, kitchen, bathroom and shower cubicle.
Karl Durr-Sorensen, Chair of Stroud Valley Scout Group, said: “This has been a huge labour of love by the whole team involved in the refurbishment. We’re very grateful to our funders and to our builders Roger and Kai Hunt. The building will be available to hire from December onwards.”
Jade Gough, Community Fund Officer at Severn Trent added: ‘’It’s been fantastic to support Stroud Valley Scout Group with this project and see their plans come to life, bringing the building back into use for the community for years to come. The hard work they’ve put in and the support the community has given really shows how much the building means to local people.’’
The building was officially opened by Stroud Mayor Tony Davey.
