House stuck in the 1970s to be auctioned off with £185,000 guide price

Estate agents are trying to sell a house in Stroud that appears to have been frozen in the 1970s.

The interior of the two-bedroom cottage, situated on the corner of Butterrow Hill and London Road in Bowbridge, has an unmistakable 70s feel.

Situated opposite the new Cotswold Dogs & Cats charity shop in Bowbridge, the house evoked plenty of memories for one Stroud Times reader, who said: “This house is iconic with anyone who has grown up in Stroud. I was 12 in 1979 and I’m pretty certain it was empty at the end of the 70s and has been unoccupied ever since, so it will be nice to see someone living in it again.”

According to Estate Agents Hamptons, the detached cottage boasts ‘hidden gems just waiting to be rediscovered’.

It features a stone spiral staircase and a large fireplace, as well as a significant amount of roof space said to be ‘ideal for conversion’ (subject to the required planning permissions).

The house is being sold by auction on Tuesday, January 28 with a £185,000 guide price
