Forest Green’s 19-game unbeaten run ended at Braintree.
Steve Cotterill’s side were beaten 2-0 in Essex, leaving the Nailsworth side third – five points off league leaders Barnet, after the Bees and York won 3-1 and 2-0 respectively against Solihull Moors and Ebbsfleet United.
Braintree shocked Rovers after 10 minutes – Kyrell Lisbie putting the Irons ahead. On the cusp of the break the home side made it 2-0 thanks to a sumptuous Tom Blackwell strike.
Rovers travel to bottom of the table Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday.
