Photographer Rita Long captured these wonderful views of the Severn Vale filled with mist this morning, Thursday.
Rita told Stroud Times: “I was chasing the mist this morning and took these from Coaley Peak looking across towards Dursley, North Nibley and the River Severn. It was magical.”
The phenomenon, known as a cloud inversion, occurs when the normal temperature distribution of air, warm at the bottom, colder as you go up, becomes flipped upside downlead to a thick layer of mist clinging to the ground.
The chances of seeing this again anytime soon remain slim as the Met Office predicts damp and cold weather over the weekend.
