Clinical Forest Green jumped to the top of the early league two tree with a scintillating victory over an out of sorts Walsall.

Rob Edwards’ side raced into a 3-0 half-time lead through Jamille Matt and a Matty Stevens’ brace, including a penalty. Rovers were indebted to two outstanding saves from Luke McGee in each half and a clearance off the line from Regan Hendry. Walsall scored a late consolation through Brendan Kiernan as Rovers made it back-to-back wins from the opening two matches of the season.
