Stratford Park Lido is beginning to fill with fresh natural spring water as preparations continue for its long-awaited reopening later this month.

Stroud Times has been sent a series of pictures showing water flowing into the iconic outdoor pool, marking another significant milestone in the restoration project.

The sight of the pool filling will be welcomed by campaigners and residents who fought to save the historic lido after its future was thrown into doubt earlier this year.

The pool begins to fill

The reopening date was revised after restoration works uncovered that the condition of the pool floor was significantly worse than first anticipated. Despite the setback, contractors have continued to make steady progress on site, with the council confirming the project remains on track for its planned reopening.

The images offer an encouraging glimpse of the transformation taking place, with the pool once again beginning to resemble the much-loved community facility that has served generations of swimmers.

Work is underway to give the entrance to the pool a unique look

The entrance to the pool has also had a stunning art deco makeover thanks to muralist Kat Owen and sign writer Leigh Charman, who were commissioned by community group SOLS (Save Our Lido Stroud). To help pay for this cost you can click this link Here

The pool is set to open on Saturday, August 15 at 10am.
