This Sunday, June 8th, will see Avening come alive once again with an un-bear-lievable display of creativity, community spirit, and fun for all ages as the much-loved Avening Bear Hunt returns.

Hosted by the Friends of Avening School (FOAS), the Bear Hunt invites families to follow a magical trail of decorated teddy bears, lovingly dressed and displayed by local residents and businesses. This year, 25 bears will be hiding across this pushchair-friendly trail – ensuring everyone can join in the adventure.

The Bear Hunt begins at Avening Memorial Hall, where there will be picnic lunches, cakes, tea and coffee, ice creams, face painting, bear-themed gifts and crafts, and plenty more to keep little (and big) bear hunters entertained.
Maps are £2 each, and every completed trail returned will be rewarded with a sweet treat. Families can also pre-order children’s picnic lunches online for £3 (or buy on the day for £3.50 while stocks last).

All proceeds from the event will go directly towards enhancing learning experiences for Avening Primary School pupils – with this year’s fundraising supporting new outdoor play equipment and transport costs for school trips.
“We’re incredibly proud of the Bear Hunt,” says a FOAS Co-chair, Nicky Dill. “It’s a true celebration of community and creativity, and it raises vital funds that make a real difference to our children’s school lives.”
