Bashful Forest Green head coach Rob Edwards insists his award for Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for August is recognition for the football club.
Edwards scooped his award after a breathtaking start to his managerial career – picking up four wins from five League Two games as Rovers topped the early season table.
Edwards said: “I’ve said to all of my staff, it’s about the team. It’s quite embarrassing to be honest because it’s not one person. Without the players performing on the pitch and getting the results, nobody would get the recognition. It’s about everyone. It’s nice to get the recognition, but it’s recognition for the football club.
“We’re all really delighted with this award. But, I must stress, it’s been an incredible team effort – and this award is for everyone who works hard on the training ground to get these positive results. The staff have been outstanding, and I am very thankful for them. It’s humbling – and drives us all to work harder ahead of the coming weeks.”
Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Rob Edwards side certainly set their stall out as August’s EFL entertainers, scoring 13 goals in their first four games, before things came crashing down against Port Vale.
“Edwards will have to pick his men up again and keep pace with Bradford and early pace-setters Harrogate, starting with the visit of Northampton on Saturday.”
Danny Wilson chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.
He said: “What a start for new boss Rob, 12 points from a possible 15 puts them top of the league in August.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “New Forest Green manager Rob Edwards has made a good start to his managerial career in League Two as his side topped the table going into September having won three and lost just once during August.
“League Two is such a competitive league from a betting point of view with not much separating all the teams and we had Forest Green down as one of the likely favourites for promotion before a ball was kicked at 3/1 and a 14/1 shot to win the league.
“After Rovers’ impressive start we have cut them into 7/4 joint favourites for promotion (along with Bradford) and they’re now into 7/1 for the title.”
The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
