Harry Whitwell has bid an emotional farewell to Forest Green following his recall to Championship outfit West Brom.

The talented midfielder quickly became a fan favourite at the New Lawn, and he leaves with praise for teammates and manager Robbie Savage after a breakthrough season.

In a social media video via the club, Whitwell said: “Thank you to my teammates—what a special group. I truly believe we’ve got a real chance at promotion this year; the talent in this squad is unmatched in the league.”

Whitwell reserved high praise for Forest Green boss Robbie Savage, saying: ” A massive thank you to the gaffer as well—he’s been brilliant with me, giving me this opportunity in senior football. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

“It’s a sad moment because I’ve loved every second here. Bittersweet, but I’m so grateful for everything this club has done for me.”
