Forest Green striker Matty Stevens has joined Walsall on loan until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old was Rovers’ top scorer last season with 27 goals when he went off with the knee injury during the win over Scunthorpe in April.
Stevens returned to the first-team squad on Boxing Day, coming on as a substitute during the loss to MK Dons and was on the bench last weekend at Shrewsbury Town.
Last season was the most prolific of Stevens’ career to date and he was named in the League Two team of the year and nominated for the league’s player of the season.
Stevens will be reunited with strike partner Jamille Matt at the Bescott. The lauded ‘Matt Attack’ which led Rovers to the League Two title last season.
On the final day of the window, Rovers made it 11 signings this month by capturing striker Jahmari Clarke on loan from Reading until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old is an exciting, powerful forward who poses a real threat in the air – and bolsters Duncan Ferguson’s attacking options.
Clarke has come through the ranks at Reading – making his breakthrough into the first-team last season.
The forward played 12 times in the Championship last season, scoring a brace in a 2-1 win at Birmingham City in November 2021.
When he wasn’t playing for the first-team last season, Clarke was producing the goods in the Premier League 2, grabbing six goals across 12 appearances.
Clarke has been capped five times by Jamaica Under-20s, scoring three goals.
He spent time out on loan at National League side Woking earlier this season and scored on his debut for the Cards.
