Kind-hearted Made In Stroud founder offers shop toilet as a safe space for trans women

The founder of an independent Stroud shop has offered the use of her business’s toilet as a safe space for trans women who may feel uncomfortable using public facilities.

Clare Honeyfield, founder of Made In Stroud in the town centre, shared the offer on social media, saying anyone who needs a safe place to use the toilet is welcome to visit the shop.

Her message comes amid continued national discussion around access to single-sex spaces and public toilets following recent legal and policy developments.

In her post, Clare said: “We welcome all members of the queer and trans community to feel welcome to use our facilities. As a community business it is important to us that visiting town feels safe and inclusive.”
