Dear Editor,
I am writing to share reflections regarding the proposed care home development at the former Wyatt House in the Paganhill area, which was recently reviewed by Stroud Town Council’s Consultations and Highways Committee.
While we welcome new care facilities and businesses in our community, several aspects of the current proposal require further consideration. The new development’s height could potentially impact neighbouring properties’ light and views.
Additionally, the parking provisions seem inadequate for a facility likely to receive numerous visitors. We are also concerned about the lack of external green spaces for residents to enjoy.
Furthermore, the demolition and construction process raises questions about asbestos dust and noise pollution mitigation.
As Mayor and Committee Chair, I have urged the applicants to address these issues and hope they can be overcome.
We invite residents to share their perspectives by emailing council@stroudtown.gov.uk.
Our goal is to ensure this development enhances our community while respecting the needs of all stakeholders. We look forward to further collaborative discussions with the applicants to refine these plans.
Tony Davey
Mayor of Stroud
