Two from the party decided to navigate the canal by climbing the fallen tree. Both men made it across to the far bank, but the first intrepid explorer was less lucky and missed his footing and took a dip into the canal. His colleague was more successful and ended his challenge with a flourish, leaping back onto dry land.
