Letter to the Editor: will Dale Vince’s Eco Park come to fruition?

MOST READ

Dear Editor,

This week we’ve learned of the latest plans for Forest Green’s Eco Park stadium, at a projected cost of £100m.

Dale Vince’s Ecotricity Group Limited has submitted yet another planning application to Stroud District Council for the layout, scale and external appearance of the stadium next to Junction 13 of the M5 motorway. District planners are expected to consider the scheme by October 23

Designed by British designers Zaha Hadid Architects and, after some initial setbacks, was finally given the nod by Stroud District Council in 2019.

Groundwork started at the site in February, but final stadium completion is as yet unknown, although many suggest the club’s move from its existing stadium in Nailsworth will not be before 2026.

As a FGR fan I’m excited by the move from the New Lawn, but the proposed new stadium in the making has from memory been a vision for at least a decade – will it actually ever happen?

David Graham,

Stroud
