The Stroud & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce have taken over the co-ordination of this year’s Stroud Goodwill Evening.
The popular December event has now been renamed the Stroud Goodwill Festival and will be extended to a two-day spectacle from December 6-7 and has also been renamed the Stroud Goodwill Festival.
Tony Davey, Vice Chair of The Chamber told Stroud Times: “We have taken feedback from our communities and extended the event into Saturday. Friday will still see the switch-on of the Christmas Tree lights, the parade and three markets – just as everyone has come to expect.
“We’ve curated an impressive line-up of entertainment across the town, including an eBike Display, the Rinky Dink, jugglers, stilt walkers, bands and choirs, the list goes on.
“Sometimes the youngest children can’t stay up to enjoy Goodwill Evening properly, and some children and adults can find the crowds and noise of Friday a little overwhelming. To help make the Goodwill Festival work for them too, we have introduced a good schedule of events for Saturday daytime. There’ll be dancing, an orchestra, Santa cruises on the canal, bands, even an Alpaca Experience. The fair will operate both on Friday evening and Saturday daytime too, so giving young people something they enjoy each year.”
