Manchester United midfielder Charlie Savage is set for his Forest Green debut at Shrewsbury Town this afternoon.
Charlie – who is the son of former Wales international Robbie Savage – joins Duncan Ferguson’s side on loan until the end of the season and becomes the tenth January transfer window signing as Rovers look to escape relegation back to League Two.
Savage,19, is highly-rated at Old Trafford and signed his first professional contract with the Red Devils in April 2021 and is contracted with the Red Devils until at least 2025.
He has made one first-team appearance at United – coming off the bench in their Champions League win against Young Boys in December 2021.
The 19-year-old has represented the Welsh national team at under-17s, under-18s, under-19s and under-21s level.
Speaking to FGR media, the midfielder – who will wear the number 48 shirt – said: “I’m buzzing to be here. As soon as I found out Forest Green were interested, I just wanted to get down and get started.
“I loved the sound of the club and I actually came down here last season for work experience under Rob Edwards. I know the people and the place really well.”
