Marling students celebrate GCSE results

Marling School’s celebrating the success of its Year 11 students, who’ve achieved an excellent set of GCSE results, with 54 per cent of all exams at the very highest 9-7 grades, and 79 per cent at grades 9-6.

There are many stories of individual success with 18 students gaining eight or more grade 8s and 9s, 60 students getting at least one grade 9, and 86 achieving five or more grade 7s and above.

Student George Herbert’s celebrating today with a combination of 9s and 8s. George said: “I’m really pleased with my grades, and I’m staying at Marling to study A-levels. I really like the atmosphere here, and the staff and pupils. I’m passionate about maths and science, and the facilities are just excellent. Today I can just breathe and relax and I’m looking forward to a meal later with my family in celebration.”

Dan Bradley pleasantly surprised with grades of 9s and 8s.

Dan Bradley was pleasantly surprised opening his results today. Dan, who’s also continuing his studies at Marling said: “I was particularly nervous about today’s results, especially with the grade boundaries shifting, but I’ve achieved what I needed to, to stay on at Marling. I’m going to celebrate later with free food at Nando’s in Cheltenham with my mates!”

Joshua Glover achieved a combination of 9s, 8s and 7s and will be staying at Marling too to study A-Levels. Joshua said: “I’m looking forward to continuing my studies at Marling, studying English and Music. The drama department here is really, really good and I’m now looking forward to the next chapter.”

Our students have worked extremely hard for every grade. I would like to thank all our brilliant staff who’ve inspired students and worked tirelessly to support them, in and out of lessons.”
