Tegen Quinn Bio

You specialise in Corporate and Commercial Law, tell us how you got in to it?

I qualified as a solicitor in 2010. Having started my career handling commercial disputes, I saw first-hand the importance of obtaining specialist corporate and commercial legal advice at an early stage in the business lifecycle; to protect the individuals involved, protect the business itself and avoid lengthy and costly disputes.  This drew me into specialising in corporate and commercial law where I have the opportunity to work closely with a wide variety of businesses (which is interesting in itself) to navigate those potential risks and support the business to achieve its full potential.  I love to help people and I love to problem solve, so I was always set on a career in law.

How do you help your clients?

I pride myself on offering a friendly and down to earth approach so that clients feel comfortable discussing all aspects of their business needs with me.  I invest the time in getting to know my clients and their businesses so that I can act as an extension of their team; identifying potential legal issues before they become problematic and providing practical, tailored advice and support in an efficient and cost effective manner.

What are you passionate about? (area of law you are passionate about)

I deal with all aspects of corporate and commercial law, from structuring and negotiating the sale or purchase of a business, to helping a business secure investment, to reviewing and drafting commercial agreements to protect my clients’ interests.

I most enjoy working with start-up businesses, getting to know the business and its founders from the outset means that I am best placed to help them navigate the complex legal landscape as the business grows.  Seeing the business flourish and being a part of helping it to reach its full potential is hugely rewarding.

What piece of advice would you give to someone looking to get their business affairs in order

It is never too early in your business life cycle to obtain legal advice, be that on your business structure, planning for how you may exit the business in the future or ensuring you have properly drawn up terms of trade.  Acting now can not only reduce the risks of a lengthy and costly dispute with customers, suppliers or business partners down the line, it can in fact help you to increase the value of your business should you want to attract investment or sell it to a third party.  The importance of obtaining tailored commercial legal advice at an early stage can never be underestimated.

What interests do you have outside of work

I love being active and love the outdoors, I am a keen trail runner and horse rider in all weathers!
