Hello lovely people, Let’s start by saying Merry Christmas! It has been a turbulent year but we feel like our last project of 2021 has embodied the true spirit of the Long Table’s mission. And, well, what a week of eating together it was! Thank you to all the hosts and guests who joined in our Longest Table event last week – lovingly sharing meals across tables throughout Gloucestershire. After such a long year it was lovely to hear the stories of communities eating together, as well as the planning and thoughtfulness that went into each meal – to make sure everyone was included that could be. Schools, neighbours, work colleagues and even The Long Table (of course!) hosted lovely lunches, delicious dinners and fantastic feasts! |
There are still stories and photos rolling in from the community but so far these are the numbers: People eating together: 479 The Longest Table length: 293 metres Total raised for charities: £1190 We know how hard it has been to put something like this together in the face of the rising Omicron variant, as well as everything else that has happened this year. And for that we’re so grateful and thankful to those that took part, to look after their neighbours, colleagues and friends. |
Recipes for you! If you didn’t manage to take part in the Longest Table event but would still like a taste of what it was like, we’re gifting you all of the recipes that we shared as part of the event! Maisie’s Menu at the Long Table featured Creamy Roasted Pumpkin and Apple Soup, Slow Roast Pork Shoulder with Cranberry BBQ Sauce and a Thick Vegan Hot Chocolate Cup (with an optional splash of rum!). The Longest Table Menu also included Urban Rajah’s Bombay Roast Turkey, Vegan Punks’ saucy Tikka Masala and Tom Herbert’s delightful Sourdough Chapaani! |
Give the gift of friendship this Christmas! Would you like to gift a friend in your life three months of weekly tasty meals from The Long Table? They’ll also get great conversation, become a part of our friendly community and will be supporting our food equality mission! Once purchased we’ll send the new Friend a welcome pack in the post which explains everything about their membership. |
Give 3 Months’ Friendship |
Thank you for all of your support this year, we have felt the love. All that is left to be said is that we’ll be back to launch new and exciting projects in 2022, and we hope that you all manage to rest, relax and eat well with people in your community this Christmas. Merry Christmas, and here’s to 2022 Sending comfort & joy, The Long Table Team x |
