More than 100 pupils from Rodborough Community Primary School based near Five Valleys shopping centre in Stroud, have come together to hand decorate a beautiful 10 ft blue spruce Christmas tree which now takes pride of place in the centres outdoor courtyard.

The centre, which is now home to a number of independent businesses that join national high street favourites, has been undergoing an extensive refurbishment by Dransfield Properties since 2019.

The Christmas tree was unveiled at the same time as the centre’s Christmas lights were switched on creating the perfect festive atmosphere for early Christmas shoppers at the weekend.

Centre Manager at Five Valleys shopping centre, Jack Simpson, said: “It’s really important to us that we engage with the local community which is why we wanted to get local school children involved with decorating our fabulous Christmas tree.

“We’re hoping the pupils will bring their families down to the centre to see if they can spot their fantastic designs on the wooden baubles hanging from the tree.”

The budding young artists have worked really hard designing their own wooden decorations sharing with shoppers what Christmas means to them.

Jack continued: “We have loved seeing the talent and creativity involved in each decoration. We have seen everything from woodland scenes to Christmas puddings and reindeer.”

Alongside the stunning Christmas lights display, the centre team will also be hosting a packed schedule of festive fun in the run up to Christmas including live music every Friday for the late-night food market and a Christmas Craft Market which will be held on the 9th and 10th December and again the weekend after on the 16th and 17th December.

There will be choirs, brass band performances and even Santa popping in for those that are lucky enough to catch him at this busy time of year.

Shops are open seven days a week and late every Friday with free parking offered all day every Sunday.
