A group of travellers have arrived at a popular field in Nailsworth this morning, Saturday.
Reports this morning suggest several caravans and vans have descended at the King George V Playing Fields.
Nailsworth town councillor Steve Robinson said: “I have been up and spoken to the group. They are in the far end of the extension field, so there is no issue for park users. They will be gone by Monday afternoon. I also told them that the toilets and washing facilities are open.”
Separately, there was an overnight break-in at Cotswold Edge Golf Club. According to a post from the club, intruders caused significant damage, including diesel spillage and an attempted forced entry via a shed door, apparently using a mower.
CCTV equipment was damaged, although the club says additional cameras captured footage. As a result, green maintenance has been disrupted this morning.
Meanwhile, Five Valleys Shopping Centre has announced its car park will be closed from 4pm on Sunday, 10 May for essential maintenance, reopening the following day.
A spokesperson said: “Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete the works, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
