Stroud’s Boss Morris and Miserden Morris celebrated the May Day sunrise at 5.40am this morning by dancing on Rodborough Common.
Co-founder of Boss Morris, Alex Merry said: “May Day sunrise has become one of the biggest dates in the Boss Morris calendar. There’s something magical about dancing up the sun – it changes how you feel about the day, the place and the people around you.

“It feels like a proper quest: alarms set for 4:30am, bells jingling in the darkness as we headed up to the common, all to mark the start of summer. There’s a deep sense of connection – to the land, to each other, and to the passage of time.
“We celebrated afterwards with the local community at the Prince Albert pub, where Lotte and Miles opened the doors for an early morning huddle and we belted out some May songs. The heartiest start to the day.
“We will also be taking part in the NeoAncients festival in Stroud on the May Bank Holiday weekend too.”
