Mountain bike riders repeatedly attack man on canal towpath

A man was assaulted by two men riding bikes on the Stroudwater canal towpath on Friday night.

Two men were walking on the path close to WSP Textiles at around 11.40pm. One of the pedestrians was verbally abused by the two cyclists, who then kicked him in the legs and punched him repeatedly to the head. As a result, the victim has suffered bruising to his knee and temple, and a cut to the forehead.

The two suspects cycled off in the direction of Cainscross Road.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have CCTV in the area to come forward.
