A popular Nailsworth sandwich shop is set to close its doors this weekend – but much-loved owner Lisa Gatley hopes Nice Baps could soon pop up at another location.
Nice Baps will shut its Cossack Square premises this Saturday due to the sale of the building.
Stroud Times visited the popular eatery this morning, where Lisa was visibly overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection from her loyal customers.
Flowers, cards and even a heartfelt poem had been left for her — a touching testament to just how much Nice Baps has come to mean to the local community and the special space Lisa has created over the past 18 months.
Lisa said: “It is with much sadness that Nice Baps will be closing its doors on Saturday, the 26th of September due to the sale of the building.
“We will be having a fundraiser in aid of breast cancer from 9 o’clock with tea and cake, tombola, raffle and lucky dip. It would be great to see all our customers.
“I would like to thank everyone for supporting Nice Baps over the last 18 months.
“Hopefully we will be able to pop up in a different location very soon. Will keep you posted. ”
Lisa opened Nice Baps in Cossack Square in 2025 alongside Lesley Glover, following the closure of Walkers in January that year.
The business has since become a familiar name in Nailsworth, serving sandwiches and other food from the town-centre premises.
While the Cossack Square shop is closing, Lisa has indicated that this may not be the end of Nice Baps – with the possibility of a new location on the horizon.
Lisa has also announced a special fundraiser on Saturday in aid of breast cancer, with the event getting underway from 9am.
There will be tea and cake, a tombola, raffle and lucky dip, with customers invited to come along and show their support.
Customers are being encouraged to pop in on Friday or Saturday to say goodbye, enjoy the fundraiser and support the breast cancer cause.
