A much-loved Stroud shop has reopened.
In May this year Jackie Hall, who had run the popular and much loved Sew and So haberdashery shop for 48 years decided to sell up and close the shop in Lansdown. Sadly, Jackie passed away in the summer, and the future of the shop seemed uncertain.
Jackie’s eldest son Antony Hall re-opened the business last weekend. Opening hours are 9.30-4.30, Monday to Saturday. A website will be online within a few weeks. The shop will remain much as it was with a few additions like a new range of dyes, knitting needles and crochet hooks. It will take a while to re-build the stock, much of which was sold off in the closing down sale, “So please bear with us” said new owner, Antony. Customers can ask about stock items they require.
Regular customers will be pleased to know that the iconic shop window mannequin will return. The original was sold in the sale, but a new one has been ordered and will be dressed regularly by a Stroud-based fashion student.
