Mural marks shop’s first anniversary

Artist Kat Bryan-Merrett returned to Holy Spirits in Nailsworth on Friday to mark the shop’s first anniversary by painting a new mural.

Run by sommelier Athila Roos, Holy Spirits in Fountain Street specialises in fine wines and spirits and offers a selection of organic, biodynamic and sustainable drinks from distilleries and independent bottlers.

“The mural is a celebration of our fine wine collection,” explained Athila.

“Almost exactly a year ago, Kat painted the large-scale mural of the Scottish landscape, so I invited her back to paint a new mural on our back wall.

“It’s designed to bring people into the shop so they can discover the 108 varieties of fine wines – and at the same time supporting a local artist.”

Kat added: “It was so great to be asked back! Athila has made a really great space there and his whisky and wine knowledge is simply staggering. It was fun to be painting whilst the shop was open and get a chance to chat to customers at the same time.”
