My sister Vicky’s experiences inspired me to take on this challenge, says nurse after breast cancer fundraiser

An inspirational nurse has trekked across the Himalayas to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

Lizzie Morris, a Bisley-based mother of three, was part of a large team from the charity CoppaFeel!, who spent five days walking in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

The charity aims to prevent late diagnosis of breast cancer by encouraging young people to regularly check their bodies for abnormalities.

Ms Morris, who works as an emergency nurse practitioner, took on the challenge as breast cancer is a cause close to her heart.

Her sister, Vicky Brzonkalik, was diagnosed with the disease in her thirties.

She said: “My sister Vicky’s experiences inspired me to take on this challenge – it was a challenging and life-changing trek.”

They were led by well-known supporters, including actress Giovanna Fletcher and broadcaster Angela Scanlon.

The trekkers faced challenging terrain, visiting Mangrulpir, Bir, Billing, China, and the Severn Sisters, and camped each night.

Ms Morris’ efforts have raised nearly £4,000 for the charity.

In addition to her Himalayan adventure, Ms Morris has raised hundreds of pounds for CoppaFeel!, Pancreatic Cancer UK, and Maggie’s Centres by participating in various marathons and half-marathons.
