Jon Smith is the new BBC Radio Gloucestershire Breakfast Show presenter.

‘Jon Smith at Breakfast’ starts on Monday, October 2. He replaces Mark Cummings who left in May after 18 years on the show amid “huge” changes to local BBC radio.

Jon joined BBC Radio Gloucestershire eight years ago as the breakfast show’s travel presenter, working alongside breakfast anchor Mark Cummings

After that Jon launched the county’s new Evening Show in 2018, and then took on Sunday Breakfast in 2021.

He started as a BBC apprentice in 2014 before moving to Gloucestershire and working his way through the ranks.

Jon said: “I absolutely cannot wait to be waking up early with you once again and to share our mornings together.

“Gloucestershire very quickly became my home almost a decade ago and I can’t believe where the time has gone.

“I’ll be celebrating all that’s great about our county, highlighting the important issues of the day, and holding those responsible to account.

“And most of all we’re going to have a laugh.”

A BBC spokesperson said: “Jon’s working with a team of journalists, reporters and producers that live and work in Gloucestershire to bring you the latest news and analysis of all that’s happening right across the county.”

BBC Radio Gloucestershire is available on 104.7 FM in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury;  95.0 FM in Stroud and 95.8 FM in Cirencester; 1413 medium wave in the Forest of Dean and Stroud;  DAB; on Freeview channel 735 and through BBC Sounds.
