New wellbeing studio opens in Stroud

Embodied Balance, a new holistic movement and wellbeing studio, opens its doors this week, offering a radically inclusive and compassionate approach to movement, healing, and self-connection.

Embodied Balance, based in Paganhill, is not a traditional fitness studio. It is a space created for people to come home to themselves -through movement, touch, breath, and presence. With offerings that include pole fitness, heels pole, pilates, flexibility and mobility classes, alongside nervous system nourishment workshops and moon circles, the studio centres mental and emotional wellbeing just as much as physical strength.

At the heart of Embodied Balance is a clear mission:
to empower people to feel confident, capable, and free in their bodies exactly as they are. The studio champions body neutrality, self-acceptance, and imperfection, creating a space where showing up is celebrated as much as skill progression. This is not a studio driven by “Insta-perfect” aesthetics, but by honesty, courage, and community.

Founder: Lucy Broomfield

Embodied Balance was founded by Lucy Broomfield, a movement teacher and massage therapist whose work is rooted in both lived and professional experience. Nearly ten years sober, Lucy brings a deep personal understanding of addiction, trauma, and neurodiversity to her teaching and therapeutic practice.

“My passion comes from lived experience,” Lucy shares. “I know what it feels like to be disconnected from your body, to feel unsafe inhabiting it, and how consuming that can be. Nervous system regulation and somatic practices weren’t optional for me, they were essential. Through massage, mindful movement, and breathwork, I slowly rebuilt a sense of safety within myself. This work is about offering that same possibility to others.”

Lucy’s approach is grounded, trauma-aware, and deeply human. She teaches and works from the belief that there is no ‘right’ place to start—only where you are. Her joy lies in sharing practices that supported her own healing and witnessing others discover their own freedom in being wholeheartedly themselves.

“There’s a saying that we teach what we needed to learn. That’s very true for me.”

A Community-Led Space

While Embodied Balance is Lucy’s business, she is clear that the studio would not exist without community support. The opening of the space was made possible with the help of her “students turned friends and angels” Kate, Craig, Sam, and Michael, all part of the Stroud Drag Collective, whose creativity, encouragement, and support helped bring the vision to life.

Classes & Workshops

Embodied Balance offers a range of classes and workshops, including:

  • Pole Fitness – beginner to intermediate levels, focusing on strength, confidence, presence, and fun
  • Heels Pole – blending technical breakdowns, floorwork, choreography, sensuality, and self-expression
  • Pilates – full-body strength, mobility, posture, and nervous system support
  • Flexibility & Mobility – working towards splits, backbends, and functional mobility for everyday life

Alongside weekly classes, the studio hosts Nervous System Nourishment Workshops, incorporating breathwork, self-massage, gentle stretching, and meditation, as well as Moon Circles, which offer space for intention setting, journalling, meditation, guided by lunar themes and astrology.

Lucy will also incorporate massage therapy into the space.

All offerings are LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent inclusive, and open to every body.
