Newport 4 Forest Green 2: Rovers hit rock bottom

Will Evans’ double saw Newport County fightback from 2-0 down to send Troy Deeney’s Forest Green to the foot of the table.

Rovers nosed ahead when Ryan Delaney headed a free-kick into his own net, and striker Matty Stevens doubled the lead with his seventh goal of the season.

Rovers’ Callum Jones was shown a second yellow just after half-time and Newport gained a foothold, with Evans touching home crosses in rapid succession.

Lewis Payne put County ahead, before Delaney added a fourth at the death.

Rovers drop to the bottom of the table and seven points from safety.
