A Stroud optician supported Road Safety Week by donating high visibility vests to local children.

Colleagues from Specsavers in the Five Valleys provided 100 brightly coloured tabards to Great Oldbury Primary Academy, for the pupils to wear when out and about.

Cobi Williams, store director at Specsavers Stroud, said: “It’s that time of the year when we have fewer hours of daylight, so keeping the pupils visible, safe and happy while they are out and about is really important. It’s also a message that goes hand in hand with our business, which is improving vision and visibility. As well as handing over the vests, I answered some questions that the children had.

Helen Wiggall, assistant head teacher at Great Oldbury Primary Academy, added: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Specsavers Stroud for donating the hi-vis vests. The school is only three years old, so to have a local business help us out like this is brilliant.

“Keeping pupils safe and visible whilst out on school trips or walking around our local areas is essential for us as teachers.”
