The Painswick Centre is implementing parking restrictions, to ensure the long-term accessibility and functionality of the popular facility.
Parking will be limited to residents with Painswick Centre permits and individuals attending Centre activities. This decision was made due to parking issues affecting user groups and revenue. The new move will become effective from June 1 and will be managed by National Car Parks.
A post from the Painswick Trustees Centre, said: “This was a reluctant decision, but sadly a necessary one. We have been losing user groups and much needed revenue due to parking issues.
“The car park has attracted drivers who leave their car sometimes for days, who are not using the Centre. Polite signs and conversations were ignored.
“This has a knock-on effect on those who have booked the hall, or a room upstairs for a meeting, or visitors to the café or art studios.
“For the Centre to continue to operate effectively and have longevity, there needs to be space for users to park.
“These restrictions do not apply to people visiting the cafe, the art studios, the bowls club, or people legitimately using the Centre for a lecture, meeting, class, etc.
“There is a free car park on Stamages Lane for anyone unsure about free parking in Painswick.”
