Painswick’s Alicia Barnett and Jonny O’Mara shock Venus Williams and Jamie Murray in mixed doubles to reach Wimbledon quarter-finals

Painswick’s Alicia Barnett posted the biggest win of her tennis career, raising the roof at Wimbledon as the former Stroud High School student and partner Jonny O’Mara knocked Jamie Murray and tennis icon, Venus Williams, out of the mixed doubles.

Both sets of players had five match points in a sensational deciding tie-break but Murray and Williams ended up losing it 18-16.

O’Mara and 28-year-old Barnett converted the fifth match point to seal a 3-6 6-4 7-6 (16) victory in two hours and 12 minutes to reach the quarter-finals.
