Peterborough United deny Robbie Savage has been offered the manager’s position after Rovers’ owner Dale Vince confirms departure

Peterborough United have refuted claims that Forest Green boss Robbie Savage has been offered the manager’s job, contradicting a statement made by Dale Vince this afternoon.

According to the Peterborough Telegraph Posh director of football Barry Fry insists Savage has ‘not yet’ been offered a position made available by the sacking of Luke Williams earlier this month. In a brief series of text messages Fry denied compensation talks were taking place and that others still had a chance of being appointed.

In a statement on the Forest Green X account Vince said: “We gave Robbie Savage permission to speak to Peterborough. He wanted to leave the club for personal reasons, reasons which we understand and respect.

“He’s been offered the job, and we’re now in a negotiation with Peterborough on the terms. We wish Robbie the very best.”
