Hundreds of people lined the canal at Wallbridge, Stroud, to watch the Golden Duck Raft Race today.
Organised by Cotswold Canals Trust, the fundraising event marked 50 years since the trust was formed by a group of volunteers. It also celebrated the life of former Clothiers Arms landlord Luciano Magalotti, who died last year.
Lisa Mant, Company Secretary of the Cotswold Canals Trust, said: “This event is in honour of Luciano Magalotti – he brought the raft race back in 2016 and he was a huge supporter of the canal.
“This has been months and months in the planning, and I’ve had sleepless nights thinking that nobody would turn up!
“I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of people who’ve turned up. I just hope we make lots of money for the Canals Trust because that’s what it’s all about.”
The event was sponsored by Harry Counsell, current landlord of the Clothiers Arms, and Renishaw Charities Committee.
