The mighty 35028 Clan Line SR Merchant Navy Class locomotive on the Cotswold Venturer tour steamed through Standish on Saturday, writes Rich Kelsey.

The steam train left London Victoria on Saturday morning, before heading to Staines to pick up more passengers. It made its way along the Great Western Main Line then branching off to take the Golden Valley route to Cheltenham and then on to Worcester Shrub Hill.

On the return trip (17.15 Worcester to Victoria) the train blasted past Stonehouse Crossing at speed with ten coaches. As you can see, the Merchant Navy was going well on both legs of its trip, especially on the return journey building up speed for Sapperton Bank no doubt, and what a roaring fine machine it is, this time pictured with the Golden Arrow headboard and regalia on the front – cracking!
