Dursley Town grabbed the derby day bragging rights as Wilf Darley’s goal earned the points against a resilient Berkeley Town.

Earlier, Steve Farr’s Berkeley started brightly at the Rec. However, Dursley found their range on 20 minutes as captain Darley slotted home the only goal of the game from a corner.

Dursley boss Nash was pleased to return to winning ways, he said: “Berkeley started the sharper and created some decent chances.”

Dursley were without injured top scorer Aaron Nash, but drafted in Liam Harper, Ash Caldwell and Josh Jones and their presence bolstered Nash’s side.

Nash added: “We grew into the game and worked very hard across the board and the team had a bit of sting in the tail after recent performances.”

With the season entering the final furlong, Dursley are hoping to go one better this season in the league standings.

“We’re currently third and that’s where we finished last season, so if we can finish one better, it’s a positive,” Nash added.
