The Cotswold Mainline Diesel Group (CMDG) ran a very enjoyable fundraising and social day on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway last Friday, writes Rich Kelsey.
Locomotive 45149 clocked up 93 miles and raised £2,191 for the CMDG. Also, on the day the Class 37 Growler Group ran a similar fundraiser train for the Syphon group. With both groups often seeing the two trains passing each other at Winchcombe, making some good photo opportunities, also the weather came good.
Many thanks go to Andy Piper, Steve Fulcher and Neal Whitehead for organising the day and to all the train crew and volunteers that made the day possible. Also, a huge thanks to Alex Reybould for driving the loco and the Glos and Warks train staff who were most friendly and judging by the amount of beer, tea and coffee being consumed on the day in the Buffet the railway should have done well too.
