Forest Green came out on top in a dramatic finish at Sutton United.

Another late show saw Steve Cotterill’s side snatch victory in the the 89th minute through Charlie McCann.

Earlier, Steve Cotterill’s side made a bright start, with Christian Doidge seeing an early effort cleared off the line before Ryan Inniss headed over and Tom Knowles had a goal ruled out for offside.

Doidge opened the scoring in the 30th minute when he headed in a flat throw from Ben Tozer, and almost nodded in another but former Forest Green keeper Steve Arnold made a smart save.

With just five minutes left Sutton netted parity – the impressive Jeremy Sivi fizzing home.

Forest Green, though, snatched all three points in the 89th minute when keeper Jed Ward picked out substitute Kyle McAllister for McCann, who finished into the bottom of the corner with aplomb.
