Day one of Gloucestershire’s County Championship match against Yorkshire has been abandoned due to a wet outfield.
Play was set to begin at 11:00am today, but the match umpires decided just under an hour before the toss that the high volume of rain in recent weeks has made the outfield unplayable.
Rather than delay the start, Gloucestershire have decided to suspend the entire day’s play due to the severity of the rain and wind over the last 48 hours, despite the efforts of the ground staff to make the surface playable.
Elsewhere in the County Championship, the start to Leicestershire vs Derbyshire has been delayed but all other games are now underway, including Warwickshire’s match at home to Kent in Birmingham.
