Gloucestershire Police are advising motorists to take caution if travelling on the county’s roads due to heavy rainfall, standing water and flooding.
One lane is currently closed due to flooding on M5 Northbound near J13 A419, Stroud.
A police spokesperson said: “If you’re out and about then please allow yourself extra time to travel and keep plenty of distance between yourself and the vehicle in front as stopping distances are longer in rainy and wet conditions.
“A number of the county’s roads are currently affected by flooding, if you do need to go out then it’s best to find an alternative route instead of driving through flood water.
“We’re expecting to have an increase in demand for our services as the day goes on so please remember to only call 999 in an emergency or where there is risk to life.”
Don’t forget that you can report non-emergencies by visiting our website at https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/…/soh/seen-or-heard or by calling us on 101.
