Police appeal after couple subjected to homophobic abuse

Police are appealing for witnesses following a report that a couple were subjected to homophobic abuse in Cheltenham.

The victims were walking on the Promenade at around 9pm on Sunday 26 May when a car slowed down alongside them.

Four men in the car, a red Mini Cooper convertible, then shouted homophobic abuse at them before one of the offenders threw items of rubbish at them, before driving off.

Both victims were left shaken but uninjured.

The men in the vehicle were all described as being white and in their late 20s or early 30s.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, but who has not spoken to officers, to come forward.

They would also like to speak to anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage which they believe to be relevant.

This can be reported through the Constabulary website using the following online form: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us/us/a-crime-that-has-already-been-reported/
